BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Keith Guice, of Monroe, has been sworn in as the new president of the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Guice, who joined the board this year, succeeds Linda Johnson of Plaquemine, who has held the post since 2005.
The 11-member board sets policies for about 656,000 public school students statewide.
Guice was sworn in Wednesday by his son John, who is a lawyer.
Also taking their oaths of office were Walter Leel, of Shreveport, vice president, and Louella Givens of New Orleans, secretary-treasurer.
