GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) — John McCain implored Colorado voters to help put him over the top at an Election Day rally.
The Republican presidential nominee told the crowd to ignore the pundits. Polls show McCain trailing rival Barack Obama.
McCain said: “America is worth fighting for. Nothing is inevitable here.”
He told several thousand in an airport hangar: “I feel the momentum. I feel it, you feel it, and we’re going to win the election.”
McCain was headed later to meet with volunteers in New Mexico before returning to Arizona to watch election returns.
The Arizona senator was joined by his wife, Cindy, and his 96-year-old mother, Roberta. McCain made no mention of Obama.
