As LSU coach LSU Miles and the Tigers deal with their own quarterback questions following Saturday’s loss to Georgia, their next opponent has opted to not decide on their own starting quarterback until Saturday’s game, according to the Times-Picayune.
Redshirt sophomore Kevin Moore and redshirt freshman Joe Kemp will vie to become Tulane’s starting quarterback this week, the Times-Picayune reported, and the winner won’t be known until the Green Wave’s first offensive possession in Saturday’s game at LSU.
“They’re both going to see equal time, for at least a quarter and maybe the whole first half until we see who has the hot hand,” Tulane Coach Bob Toledo said Monday. “But we’re going to watch them in practice this week before making any decisions.”
Moore has started the team’s first seven games but was replaced by Kemp in the second half of Saturday’s 42-17 loss to Rice.
Moore did not have his thumb taped as he has had all season and appeared to be throwing the ball harder than in the last few games, but the two quarterbacks have shared snaps, the Times-Picayune reported
“They both did OK,” Toledo said. “They made some mistakes, but we’re just putting in our game plan.”
Toledo added that both quarterbacks would be off-limits to the media this week.
“I don’t want them to be distracted answering questions who should be starting,” he said. “Because of what’s happened, it’s important that they concentrate on getting ready.”
Tulane won’t reveal quarterback until Saturday – 9:20 p.m.
