LSU senior defensive tackle Tyson Jackson was named Southeastern Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Jackson had three tackles, including two sacks, in the Tigers’ 24-17 win at South Carolina on Saturday.
The Tigers finished the game with a season-high six sacks — the most by LSU in an SEC game since 2003.
Jackson’s two sacks also gave the senior 18.5 in his career, moving him into eighth place in LSU history.
Junior offensive tackle Ciron Black was also honored by the SEC as an Outstanding Performace.
Black led the Tigers with nine knockdown tackles and did not allow a sack, while playing all 75 offensive snaps for LSU against the Gamecocks.
Georgia sophomore running back Knowshon Moreno earned SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors with his 23-carry, 172-yard rushing performance against Vanderbilt.
The effort was Moreno’s 10th 100-yard rushing game of his young career and moved the Belford, N.J., native into 10th place on the Bulldogs’ carrer rushing list with 2,096 yards.
Moreno also scored a touchdown, preserving his spot as the SEC’s leading scorer at 9.43 points per game.
Jackson, Black and the Tigers will host Moreno and the Bulldogs on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Tiger Stadium.
