NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Tulane running back Andre Anderson is out for the season.
An MRI revealed both a fracture and dislocation of Anderson’s right shoulder suffered in last Saturday’s loss to Rice. He will have surgery on Monday.
Coach Bob Toledo says losing Anderson is a big blow for the team and disappointing for the junior, who is in his first year as a starter.
Anderson went into the Rice game ranked fourth nationally and first in Conference USA in rushing. Even after getting just 12 yards on three carries before being injured, he still ranks eighth with 864 yards and seven touchdowns. Anderson is also Tulane’s second leading receiver with 25 receptions for 202 yards and one touchdown.
Toledo says freshman Nate Austin will replace Anderson.
