LSU offensive lineman Jarvis Jones has been kicked off the football team for an unspecified violation of team rules, LSU coach Les Miles announced today.
“The issues we had with Jarvis [Jones] were internal and ones that we dealt with within the framework of our team,” Miles said in a news release. “However, we just felt like it was time to go in a different direction. We wish him well in any of his future endeavors.”
Jones’ high school coach, Lydell Wilson, said he had not know about the dismissal.
“This is the first I’ve heard of it, so it’s news to me,” Wilson told The Daily Reveille. “Usually the university calls me when stuff like this happens, but I haven’t heard anything about this yet.”
Wilson, football coach for Lamar Consolidated High School, said Jones had no major problems while on the team except for “the usual teenage stuff.”
Jones, a 6-foot-7-inch lineman from Rosenburg, Texas, played in seven games this past year as a true freshman.
