Louisiana was named the fourth most obese state in the nation, according to recent analysis by CalorieLab Inc.
The report said 30.7 percent of the state’s adult population was obese in 2007. The report also said Louisiana’s three-year percentage average of obesity from 2005-07 was 29.5.
Mississippi claimed the title as the most obese state while Colorado was named the thinnest state.
Body mass index is calculated by a person’s weight in kilograms by the square of that person’s height in meters. A BMI of more than 30 is classified as obese.
