N.C. State BassPack anglers Josh Hooks and Will White are representing the Wolfpack at the elite 2008 Under Armour College Bass National Championship in Little Rock, Ark. July 9-11.
According to White, a senior in wood products, the tournament is the most competitive in the world of college bass fishing. He said the number of professionals and sponsors has been really exciting.
“This tournament is amazing,” White said. “There are so many people. There are professionals that are talking to us every minute. They come in just to give advice and to talk to us.”
Schools are allowed to send just two anglers to the event. White and Hooks qualified for the national tournament after being the top two fishermen in five qualifying tournaments out of BassPack’s greater than 50 members.
The event is being held at Lake Maumelle where approximately 112 collegiate anglers from more than 50 universities and colleges across the U.S. will fish for the national title.
Hooks, a freshman in industrial engineering, believes the Pack have a chance to take down the title.
“We didn’t come to fish for second,” Hooks said. “I just have high expectations and I want to fulfill them.”
