LSU soccer coach Brian Lee announced today that assistant coach Debbie Hensley has been promoted to associate head coach for the 2008 season.
This season will be Hensley’s fourth with LSU.
“It’s been a tremendous honorfor me to work with Brian, Daniel [Brizard] and this team for three years now, and we’re all very excited about what could be another great season this fall,” Hensley said in a news release. “We have a great group of girls coming back, and we’re going to continue to work to build a program that will compete for championships year in and year out.”
Lee said in the news release that the program would not be in the position it is in now without Hensley’s contributions.
“We would not be where we are today if not for her dedication in building LSU into a program that can compete with anyone inwomen’s college soccer,” Lee said.
LSU is coming off the most successful season in team history. The Tigers advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament and won their first Southeastern Conference Western Division title in 2007.
LSU opens the 2008 season Aug. 22 against South Alabama.
