The Office of Academic Affairs and the University Emergency Operations Center announced the amended fall 2008 academic calendar via broadcast e-mail Monday night.The University’s closure last week because of Hurricane Gustav caused the final date for dropping courses without receiving a “W” to be moved to Sept. 9. The final date to add courses for credit, switch sections or register late has been moved to Sept. 11.Other changed dates include thesis and dissertation research deadlines for graduate students.Additionally, fall holiday has been canceled, and Saturday classes will be held. Tuesday classes will meet either Sept. 20 or October 11, according to the e-mail. Wednesday classes will be made up either Oct. 4 or Oct. 18. “Faculty members have been asked to reschedule classes on dates that have been designated for this purpose,” according to the e-mail.The football team plays at Auburn on Sept. 20. Oct. 4 is a bye week for the Tigers, and the team will face Florida at The Swamp on Oct. 11. South Carolina will host LSU on Oct. 18.
