Mayor-President Kip Holden announced at a press conference earlier today that the East Baton Rouge Parish curfew will be lifted as of 6 a.m. Thursday. The curfew had been in effect because of safety concerns in the aftermath of Hurricane Gustav.
“When we first started this journey, there were numerous lights out in the parish,” Holden said. “There are now enough lights back up in the community, enough traffic lights working, that as of tomorrow morning at 6 a.m., the curfew will terminate.”Holden stressed that the curfew is still in effect tonight from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
“We reserve the right … to look and re-evaluate [the curfew],” Holden said.
