BATON ROUGE (AP) — Louisiana’s chief medical officer says the state has attributed 29 deaths to Hurricane Gustav. Dr. Louis Cataldie says the latest count includes four additional deaths from natural causes. He says it also subtracts one death from a tree-cutting accident in Winn Parish from the previous total. Cataldie says any death that a coroner decides was caused by the hurricane is counted as storm-related. That can include people who die of heart attacks caused by evacuation stress. It can also include deaths caused by the storm itself.
