The Daily Reveille has learned through sources at Troy that Saturday’s 7 p.m. football game in Tiger Stadium will not occur. The game will be played in Tiger Stadium on Nov. 15, an open date for both Troy and LSU.The LSU Athletic Department confirmed the postponement in a news release sent out shortly after 2 p.m.
“The welfare of the people of Baton Rouge, the uncertain power issues facing all of us and the condition of Tiger Stadium were all factors in making this decision,” Athletic Director Joe Alleva said in a news release. “We are fortunate that both schools had a common open date later in the year. I am appreciative of the cooperation of the good people at Troy for their understanding of this situation.”
Tickets for this weekend’s game can be used for the Nov. 15 contest.
Weekend events for the LSU soccer and volleyball teams have also been canceled. The soccer team was scheduled to face Kent State on Friday and Dartmouth on Sunday. The volleyball team was scheduled to host Southeast Missouri State, Rice and Louisiana Tech in the Tiger Classic.
Alleva will comment on the postponement and cancellations at 3 p.m. today.Check back for more details.
