LSU redshirt freshman quarterback Jarrett Lee was named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week on Monday, following his first career start.
The Brenham, Texas, native led the Tigers to a 34-24 victory against Mississippi State in LSU’s SEC home opener.
Lee completed 18 of his 27 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns.
The 261 yards were the most by any LSU freshman quarterback since Josh Booty threw for 280 in 1999 in a loss to Georgia.
Lee is currently second in the SEC in passing efficiency to Florida junior Tim Tebow with a 146.51 rating.
Lee and the Tigers will face Tebow’s Gators next Saturday, Oct. 4, following a bye week.
