Within a six-hour timespan, six University students were arrested for shoplifting Monday at the LSU Bookstore.Lauren L. Beasly, 24, 5003 Tristian Ave., Baker, was arrested by the LSU Police Department for stealing a purse, a T-shirt and a pair of shorts at 10:13 a.m.She was issued a misdemeanor summons and released, said LSUPD spokesman Capt. Russell Rogé.Nicholas Byrd, 21, 2718 Ruth St., Houston, was arrested at 12:45 p.m. for stealing more than $300 worth in textbooks.Rogé said he was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.Kevin L. Richard, 20, 4301 Vixen St., New Orleans; and Arthur J. Malbroue, 19, 2568 Woodmere Blvd., Harvey, were arrested at around 2 p.m. for stealing textbooks and other items amounting to more than $200.Both men were issued a misdemeanor summons and released, Rogé said.Rodrigo Abrea-Aldana, 22, 1443 Brightside Drive, was arrested at 3 p.m. for stealing textbooks, hats and T-shirts totaling up to more than $350.Abrea-Aldana was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, Rogé said.Christopher W. Trantham, 19, 2315 Firewood Drive, was arrested at 3:27 p.m. for stealing unknown items from the bookstore.Rogé said he does not know what was stolen because the police officer who arrested Trantham did not complete a police report.Rogé said Trantham was issued a misdemeanor summons and released.—-Contact J.J.
