A last-minute letter from nine Louisiana businessmen strongly supports Chancellor Sean O’Keefe while reports of his job being on the line circulate.
The letter, published in the A section of Tuesday’s edition of The Advocate, was paid for as an advertisement by the nine individuals who “felt compelled to express [their] vigorous support for ChancellorO’Keefe.”
The letter cites O’Keefe’s accomplishments both before and during his time at the University as reason for their support.
The letter urges others who support O’Keefe to “let [their] voices be heard now,” and lists the phone numbers of the office of the LSU Board of Supervisors and the LSU System president’s office in addition to System President John Lombardi’s e-mail.
The nine contributors to the letter represent numerous business across the state: Boysie Bollinger, chairman of the board, president and CEO, Bollinger Shipyards; Jim Flores, chairman and CEO, Plains Explorationand Production Company; Jimmy Maurin, chairman, Stirling Properties, Inc.; Lenny Lemoine, president, The Lemoine Company; Markham McKnight, president and CEO, Wright and Percu Insurance; Billy Rucks, president/owner, William W. Rucks Investments; Stewart Slack, president, Slack Alost Development and former Board chairman; Bill Slaughter, president, SSA Consultants; and Davd Voelker, part owner and manager of Frantzen/Voelker Investments.
