The University Student Recreation Complex will be closed until Saturday at noon because of repairs to the facility’s basketball court floor.
Trisha Milford-Hoyt, assistant director of marketing and membership, said renovations were being done to repair a bump in the floor of the court. The court has been closed since before Christmas.
In the process of repairing the floors, UREC officials decided to paint over the maroon painting that has been on the walls since the UREC was built.
The basketball court will now feature the traditional LSU purple and gold colors with the eye of the tiger in the center of the court.
“It really has that LSU feel that it’s needed for some time,” said Milford-Hoyt.
Milford-Hoyt said the entire center had to be closed due to the fumes that resulted from refinishing the floor.
The basketball court is still being refinished and will be unavailable until Monday to allow for proper curing of the floors. The racquet ball courts and studios were also refinished and will be open Saturday.
The UREC staff is temporarily operating out of the Sport and Adventure Complex for students interested in signing up for specialty classes.
