The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association named LSU coach Dennis Shaver the Co-Women’s Head Coach of the Year for the South Central Region on Monday.
It’s the second straight season Shaver was honored with the award.
LSU seniors Richard Thompson and Kelly Baptiste were also honored, receiving the Co-Men’s Track Athlete of the Year Women’s Track Athlete of the Year awards, respectively.
Thompson was named the Southeeastern Confernence’s Male Indoor and Outdoor Runner of the Year earlier this season, and Baptiste took home the same awards on the women’s side.
The LSU track and field teams begin the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Wednesday.
