The Louisiana Senate approved on Friday a measure that would ban text messaging while driving.
Senate Bill 137 would also make it illegal for drivers with learner’s permits or intermediate licenses to make and accept cell phone calls while driving.
SB 342, which was also approved, would ban first-year, licensed drivers from using a cell phone.
The bills are now awaiting Gov. Jindal’s signature.
