Senior Associate Athletic Director Herb Vincent told The Daily Reveille today that Athletic Director Skip Bertman is expected to be released from the hospital Tuesday.
Bertman, 70, was hospitalized Saturday afternoon after experiencing early signs of a heart attack.
“He’s watching TV, reading magazines. He’s recovering,” Vincent said. “They’ll just hold him one more day.”
Vincent said Saturday that Bertman experienced discomfort at his home and was driven to the hospital by his wife, Sandy.
Vincent said Bertman had blockage in a main heart artery, and Bertman had a stent successfully inserted Saturday evening.
Vincent said he is unsure when Bertman will return to work. Incoming Athletic Director Joe Alleva takes over for Bertman on July 1.
