An incident at a Phi Gamma Delta party Friday night led to one member being burned by a bonfire and taken to the hospital.
Angela Guillory, director of Greek Affairs, said a member was burned after getting too close to a bonfire the group built as part of its annual Fiji Island party the fraternity hosted off campus.
Guillory said she could not confirm whether the member had been drinking.
Maj. Rabalais, LSUPD spokesman, said the incident occurred in the West Baton Rouge Parish, and LSUPD was only involved in acting as a liaison between West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office and University administrators.
Rabalais said he was not aware of any criminal charges being filed.
Guillory said Greek Affairs has begun an investigation into the incident.
“It’s too early to tell,” Guillory said. “We don’t have all the facts. It just happened on Friday. Things like this just take some time to put together the pieces.”
West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff Mike Cazes said he did not know the details of the incident and did not provide further information at press time.
