The Terms were involved in a car accident Saturday in Monroe.
Three members of the band, guitarist Clyde Hargrove, bassist Brandon Young and percussionist Blake Oliver, were hit by a 1997 Ford Escort driven by Taylor Cale, Monroe resident, sending all three members to the hospital.
The Terms wrote the song “Welcome to the Now (Evo Devo),” which gained fame after being promoted by the University.
Corporal Jeff Pilcher said Cale’s cell phone rang, causing him to look down and reach for it. He ran a stop sign and collided with the 1999 Toyota 4Runner, driven by Oliver.
Pilcher said Oliver has a broken bone in his vertebrae.
The Terms publicist Starr Andreeff said Oliver was released today and Hargrove, who is in St. Francis Medical Center North with a broken pelvis, will most likely be released on Thursday or Friday.
Andreeff said Young is still in intensive care.
“[Young] was in the rear seat and was ejected out of the right rear window and came in contact with a telephone pole,” Pilcher said.
Pilcher said as of now, alcohol has not been cited as a cause of the accident.
“Right now charges are pending,” he said. “I am waiting for the toxicology report. I’ll wait until I get those back before I make any charges.”
He said he is waiting for the toxicology reports of both drivers.
