Ed Orgeron, football coach for the Ole Miss Rebels for the past three years, will not be retained for the upcoming season.
Ole Miss Athletics Director Pete Boone made the announcement today at a press conference.
“Ed Orgeron will not be returning as head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels,” Boone announced at the press conference. “Chancellor [Robert] Khayat and I met with Coach Orgeron this morning. We thanked him for his tremendous work ethic, the energy and the commitment he gave Ole Miss.
And the search to replace Orgeron has already started, according to a news release from the Ole Miss Athletics Department.
“We are going to follow a process similar to the one used to hire our men’s basketball coach,” Boone said. “We believe this will allow us to hire the best person to lead the Ole Miss football program.”
Orgeron, the Rebels’ 35th coach, had a record of 10-25 overall and 3-21 inside the Southeastern Conference.
