Shots fired at the Carter Finley Stadium into the Wendell Murphy Football Center Thursday morning, the second shooting in a month, left several thousand dollars worth of damage, according to Sgt. Jon Barnwell of Campus Police.
Someone called in to report the shooting to Campus Police at 7:05 a.m. Thursday, and it appeared that the shots were fired between midnight and 5 a.m.
“The investigation is showing that two shots were fired,” Barnwell said.
He said the shots were fired with a 12-gage shot gun, damaging windows in the building and the block ‘s’ logos. No one was hurt.
Campus Police is currently investigating the incident and searching for the shooter.
The shooting, which occurred two weeks ago, took place during a shift change when officers heard shots at Doak Field. A person shot multiple times and damaged a sign, but police officers lost him in a chase. They did get his license plate number though.
Barnwell said it seemed that the two incidents were isolated and not connected to one person.
