Coach Tom O’Brien will not make a change at quarterback for the football game this Saturday against Wofford.
He said N.C. State will start Harrison Beck despite his five interceptions and lost fumble against Boston College over the weekend.
While the coach said the quarterback has to play better, he believes Beck gives the team the “best opportunity to win the football game.”
After Sunday’s football practice, Beck found O’Brien and walked off the field with him, O’Brien said during his weekly press conference on Monday. The coach said Beck had a different demeanor and that the conversation between the two was a “very positive thing.”
“It was different than my past conversations with him,” O’Brien said. “He came to me.”
Asked if Beck was attempting to influence O’Brien’s decision on who should start Saturday, O’Brien cracked a smile.
“I’d already made the decision at that point. It just made me feel better about my decision,” he said, with a laugh.
