LSU freshman golfer Sang Yi shot a 3-under par 69, leaving him tied atop the leaderboard after the opening round of the Schenkel/E-Z Go Invitational in Statesboro, Ga. Despite Yi’s performance, the No. 18 LSU men’s golf team faces an uphill battle for the remainder of the weekend after finishing tied for eleventh place. The Tigers shot 8-over 296 as a team, leaving them tied with Vanderbilt and Virginia. No. 15 Tennessee leads the field after being the only team to finish in red numbers with a 1-under 287. Yi, a Carrollton, Texas, native, finished the day with four birdies and a bogey. LSU resumes play tomorrow at 8:45 a.m. —- Contact Sean Isabella at [email protected]
