The No. 11 LSU women’s golf team shot a 14-over par 302 to keep itself atop the leaderboard at the Bryan National Collegiate tournament in Browns Summit, N.C.
The Lady Tigers once again battled strong, gusty winds today but still managed to hold an 11-stroke lead over No. 14 North Carolina going into the final round tomorrow.
The Lady Tar Heels are a distant second at 25-over 601.
LSU freshman golfer Tessa Teachman struggled in her second round of golf after starting the day atop the leaderboard after shooting a 4-under 68 yesterday.
Teachman shot a 5-over 77, leaving her tied for second with North Carolina’s Catherine O’Donnell.
The Baton Rouge native came out firing with an eagle on the second hole but faltered down the stretch with only one birdie, five double bogeys and a triple bogey.
Sophomore Megan McChrystal shot a 1-over 73, leaving her three shots off the lead.
Wake Forest’s Nannette Hill leads the field with a 1-under 143.
Two other LSU golfers remain near the top of the field. Freshman Jacqueline Hedwall is tied for seventh after firing a 2-over 74, and senior Caroline Martens is tied for 13th with a total score of 8-over 152.
Martens started the day in sixth place but could not find a rhythm, registering four bogeys and a double bogey on her way to a 6-over 78.
The final round concludes tomorrow when the Lady Tigers tee off at 8:30 a.m.
