(AP) — Gov. Bobby Jindal said Tuesday he plans to ask lawmakers to spend $245 million in state surplus money on highway projects, with a large chunk of the money going toward the unfinished Interstate 49 in north and south Louisiana. A combined $65 million would go toward finishing I-49 north of Shreveport and on improving the future I-49 between Lafayette and New Orleans, according to the state Department of Transportation and Development. Other big-ticket projects include $11 million for a bypass in Claiborne Parish.–Contact The Daily Reveille’s news staff at [email protected]
