Five former LSU football players who weren’t chosen in this weekend’s NFL draft have signed contracts with NFL teams, the LSU Athletic Department announced Monday.
Two former players have signed with AFC teams. Linebacker Darry Beckwith signed with the San Diego Chargers, and center Brett Helms will join the Houston Texans.
The other three players signed with NFC teams. Defensive tackle Marlon Favorite has signed with the Carolina Panthers, defensive end Kirston Pittman is now a member of the St. Louis Rams and defensive end Tremaine Johnson will become a Minnesota Viking.
The Kansas City Chiefs also became the first franchise in NFL history to draft a player in the first round from the same school in three straight seasons, according to a news release.
The Cheifs drafted defensive end Tyson Jackson in 2009, defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey in 2008 and wide receiver Dwayne Bowe in 2007.
Kansas City also has former LSU center Rudy Niswanger and defensive back Travis Daniels on their roster.
