Both the LSU men’s and women’s tennis teams will be represented at the NCAA championships in College Station, Texas, this season.Senior Michael Venus and freshman Neal Skupski will play in the men’s championships.Venus will open singles play Wednesday at 2 p.m. against Louisville’s Austen Childs, while the Tiger tandem will begin doubles competition Thursday against Sacramento State’s Kiryl Harbatsiuk and Anton Stryhas.”The guys have been practicing very well,” LSU men’s tennis coach Jeff Brown said in a news release. “They have been sharp and energized. Now they are looking to execute well and get back on the court to compete after a little bit of time off. Michael is excited, and so is Neal with this being his first championship.”A pair of seniors will represent the Lady Tigers at the women’s championships.Megan Falcon will begin singles play Wednesday at 6 p.m. against California’s Claire Ilcinkas. Falcon and Mykala Hedberg will team up Thursday to represent LSU in doubles competition against SMU’s Marta Lesniak and Aleksandra Malyarschikova.”I am very excited for Megan and Mykala,” LSU women’s tennis coach Tony Minnis said in a news release. “This is a great accomplishment to be participating in the NCAA tournament.
