The LSU swimming and diving teams announced their 2009-2010 schedule Thursday.The Tigers and Lady Tigers will open their season September 25 with the Purple and Gold Intrasquad meet before hosting Tennessee, Auburn and Tulane on consecutive weekends in October.The teams will then travel to Alabama, Florida State and New Orleans in November before competing in the Houston Invitational to close out the month.LSU’s lone December meet will be the Alabama Diving Invitational in Tuscaloosa, Ala., before opening January 2010 with the Georgia Diving Invitational and South Florida Invitational.The Tigers will stay in the Sunshine State to face Florida Atlantic and Florida before heading home to host Texas A&M on Jan. 23, 2010.The men and women’s teams will split up to close out January and their regular seasons, as the Lady Tigers face Rice and Houston on the road and the Tigers host New Orleans.”I am very excited about our schedule for next season,” LSU coach Adam Schmitt said in a news release. “We have a couple of quality top-10 SEC matchups early in the fall, and overall, it’s a strong schedule with many top-20 teams. I hope a lot of Tiger fans can come out and support us at our home meets next season. They will be exciting to watch.”The Southeastern Conference championships are set for February 17-20, followed by the Last Chance Meet on February 27 and the NCAA Zone Diving Regional on March 12-14.The women’s NCAA championship meet is scheduled for March 18-20 at Purdue, while the men’s championship is set for March 25-26 at Ohio State.—-Contact The Daily Reveille sports staff at [email protected]
