The LSU baseball team has moved up to No. 3 in the national rankings, the LSU Athletic Department announced Monday.
The Tigers (36-13, 16-8) are No. 3 in both the Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America polls. LSU was previously ranked No. 5 by Collegiate Baseball and No. 4 by Baseball America, respectively.
LSU won three of four games last week, beating Tulane at home Wednesday and taking two of three from Arkansas during the weekend. The Tigers are tied atop the Southeastern Conference Standings with Ole Miss and Florida with a 16-8 conference record.
LSU senior pitcher Louis Coleman was also named SEC Pitcher of the Week on Monday, the league office announced.
Coleman, a Schlater, Miss., native, pitched a complete-game shutout against Arkansas on Saturday. He surrendered two hits and one walk to go along with six strikeouts.
It is the second time this season Coleman has won the award.
LSU hosts Florida this weekend at Alex Box Stadium in a showdown of division leaders. Friday’s series opener is scheduled for 7 p.m.
