The LSU women’s basketball team will donate $2 to Baton Rouge area cancer research for every student who attends Sunday’s game at noon against No. 9 Florida, the LSU Athletic Department announced Wednesday.Admission for all LSU students is free.Sunday’s game is the 13th annual Pack the PMAC game, which will include the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s Pink Zone Challenge, a fundraising competition among coaches across the nation to raise the most money for breast cancer awareness.
LSU associate head coach Bob Starkey and his wife, Sherie, a breast cancer survivor also announced they will donate $0.50 to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund for every student in attendance.Kay Yow is the former women’s basketball coach at North Carolina State who passed away in January after a long battle with breast cancer. She was one of only six Division I women’s basketball coaches to reach 700 wins.
