The LSU System offered its proposal for how to cut as much as $175 million out of its spending next year, to comply with the Jindal administration’s request for worst-case budget cutting scenarios in the 2009-10 fiscal year. The cuts are not certain. A look at the larger cuts proposed for the new year that begins July 1:
—LSU main campus: $60.2 million cut, lay off 173 faculty and 606 support staff.
—University of New Orleans: $18.2 million cut, lay off 91 faculty and 142 support staff.
—LSU-Shreveport: $4.6 million cut, lay off 24 faculty and 40 support staff.
—LSU-Alexandria: $3.2 million cut, lay off 23 faculty and 40 support staff.
—LSU-Eunice: $2.2 million cut, lay off 26 faculty and 8 support staff.
—LSU Agricultural Center: $22.3 million cut, lay off 181 faculty and 120 support staff.
—Pennington Biomedical Research Center: $4.3 million cut.
—Paul M. Hebert Law Center: $2.6 million cut.
—LSU Health Sciences Center-New Orleans: $30.2 million cut.
—LSU Health Sciences Center-Shreveport: $19.7 million cut.
