LSU senior middle blocker Brittnee Cooper has been named National Player of the Week by Collegiate Volleyball Update, the LSU Athletic Department announced Tuesday in a news release.
Cooper racked up 31 kills last weekend on a .600 hitting percentage, leading the Tigers to victories against Georgia and Auburn. She also collected 11 blocks, with six of those coming in a 3-0 sweep against Auburn.
“Brittnee has worked exceedingly hard in all facets of her game and isvery deserving of this award,” LSU coach Fran Flory said in a news release. “She has developed into one of the best middle blockers in the nation and affects matches not only with her kills on offense but her blocking on defense.”
Cooper was also named Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
LSU takes a four-match road swing, including trips to Ole Miss on Friday and Arkansas on Sunday, before returning to the PMAC to face Mississippi State on Nov. 20.
