Apparently LSU coach Trent Johnson wants a strong student showing next Monday when the Tigers open the Dick’s Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off against Indiana State.
Just a few hours after the LSU athletic department announced they had purchased 250 student tickets for the event, Johnson announced he’d match the athletic department’s effort, meaning the first 500 students to arrive to next Monday’s game will now get in free.
“I see where LSU is paying for the first 250 [student] tickets for the NIT [next Monday and Tuesday],” Johnson said. “How about Coach J pays for the next 250 students? That would be a pretty good deal huh? I think I want to pay for the next 250.”
Tipoff for Monday’s game is 7:00 p.m. and the winner of the game will take on the winner of Milwaukee and Western Kentucky next Tuesday.
