Lions and Tigers and … people, oh my!
CultureCandy will host its annual UncommonThread fundraiser at The Spanish Moon, tonight starting at 9 p.m. with a special spirit animal costumed Velcro.
Participants are encouraged to dress as their inner spirit animal for the event that will feature music provided by DJ OttO.
A portion of the $5 cover and other procees will benefit CultureCandy’s annual UncommonThread fashion show, a wearable art show held Dec. 12.
According to Erin Rolfs, UncommonThread director, this year’s fashion show theme is “cryptozoology,” the study of hidden animals, and the fundraiser is a preview for the show.
“We extended the concept of man meets animal into this fundraiser,” Rolfs said. “You interpert the way animals have played a role in your life, and if you find yourself gravitating toward one, it is typically an animal manifestation of who you are.”
“We’re encouraging people in the Baton Rouge community to embody their spirit animal and come support UncommonThread through a wild night of dancing,” said Emily Wilkerson, fundraiser organizer. “Spirit animals are extremly intersting and can help you reveal bits of information about yourself.”
