A record tiger stadium crowd witnessed the hyped return of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow and a struggling LSU team in search of an identity Saturday night in Death Valley.
The Tigers fell to the number one team in the nation 13 to 3 despite laying it all out on the field.”
“We gave LSU fans a great effort tonight. Don’t take this as a negative,” said LSU defensive tackle, Charles Alexander. “Good is gonna come out of this and we’re just gonna get better each week.”
The Tigers offense displayed a lack of execution with only three first downs, only five plays over ten yards and only converting one of nine third down conversions. The struggling offense was held back by costly false start penalties and sacks.”
“It was just the fact that every time we got in a rhythm it was always something – offside here, offside there, dropped passes, miscues. You can’t do that especially against a good team,” said running back Charles Scott.
“You want your offense to feel like a machine where it’s just methodically moving. Anytime you have penalties and sacks that’s not gonna happen,” added T-Bob Heber, center.
The Florida Gators didn’t need to open up their playbook to beat the tigers.
Florida dominated time of possession as they continued to attack the LSU run defense. LSU defensive penalties helped Tebow and the Gators stay on the field. After another Florida sack all hope was lost and a sea of roaring gold fans turned into an empty stadium of disappointment.
Coach Les Miles knows the weight of this loss is on his shoulders.”
“Our football team just lost a game and we got to be better, and I’ll take the discredit there. That’s my fault. I’ll get us better,” said Coach Les Miles.
The LSU football team now has two weeks to fix their many problems before facing a tough Auburn team on October 24th.
