The LSU women’s basketball team is ranked No. 9 in the Associated Press preseason Top 25, which was released Friday.
LSU is the second highest Southeastern Conference team in the poll behind No. 8 Tennessee. No. 21 Georgia and No. 22 Vanderbilt are the only other SEC teams in the poll.
Connecticut, who finished a perfect 39-0 last season en route to a national championship, is a unanimous choice for No. 1 in the poll.
LSU has also been selected to win the SEC by the media and was picked to finish second by the SEC coaches. Lady Tiger senior guard Allison Hightower was named the preseason SEC Player of the Year by both the coaches and the media.
LSU opens the season Tuesday, Nov. 10 when it hosts Loyola of New Orleans in the PMAC.
