LSU outfielder Jared Mitchell agreed to terms on a contract with the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday and will forego his senior season of eligibility with the Tigers.The White Sox drafted Mitchell at No. 23 overall in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player draft last month.The 20-year-old New Iberia native will make his professional debut Thursday with Chicago’s Class A affiliate in Kannapolis, N.C.”We are very proud of Jared for working so hard to reach this level,” LSU coach Paul Mainieri said in a news release. “We’re very pleased that he was in our program for three years and developed into a first-round draft choice. He was vital to our success, and he will always be a part of our program. All of us at LSU wish him the best during his professional career.” First baseman and catcher Sean Ochinko, also a junior last season, agreed to terms with the Toronto Blue Jays last week.Junior designated hitter Blake Dean, junior infielder and left fielder Ryan Schimpf and sophomore infielder DJ LeMahieu round out the list of LSU underclassmen drafted this year.Pitcher Louis Coleman was the Tigers’ only senior chosen in the draft.
