The LSU football team will finish second in the Southeastern Conference Western Division this season, according to predictions made by the media at this week’s SEC Media Days.Defending national champion Florida received 63 votes as the likely 2009 SEC champion. Ole Miss received the only remaining vote.Florida received all 64 votes to win the Eastern Division, while Alabama led the West with 33 first-place votes. LSU received 15 votes to win the West, and Ole Miss garned 16 first-place nods.But based on the overall scoring, in which the position a team is voted on each ballot is added up (for instance, Florida’s 64 votes to win the East give a score of 64), LSU finished No. 2 in the East with 145 points — just slightly ahead of Ole Miss’ 149.Alabama earned a total of 109 points.PROJECTED FINAL STANDINGSSEC Champions – Florida (63), Ole Miss (1)EASTERN DIVISION1.
