A portion of the Tiger Band will now travel to the LSU football team’s season opener at Washington, LSU Senior Associate Athletic Director Herb Vincent confirmed Tuesday. The Athletic Department had previously decided not to send the band on the by far the longest road trip of the 2009 football season. The band will also send a smaller portion to each of the Tigers’ four conference road games, as Linda Moorhouse, director of bands, said Monday. The band members traveling to LSU’s four Southeastern Conference games will ride buses to and from the games. The band will travel back to Baton Rouge after three of the games without staying overnight in a hotel, Vincent said in an e-mail.The full band will not travel to any road game except potentially a postseason bowl game.—-Contact The Daily Reveille sports staff at [email protected]
