Wearing their home purple uniforms for the first time this season, LSU pounced on Louisiana-Lafayette early and often in a 31-3 win.
The Tigers struck first on a 16-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Jordan Jefferson to senior receiver Brandon LaFell to give LSU a 7-0 lead with 3:09 to play in the opening quarter.
Junior safety Chad Jones kept the beat rolling a drive later and intercepted a pass from ULL quarterback Chris Masson, setting up LSU in great field position.
The next play, senior running back Trendon Holliday took a pitch from Jefferson and scampered 12 yards to put LSU up 14-0.
The Cajuns got on the board with 11:26 to play in the half on a 40-yard field goal by Tyler Albrecht.
Junior Josh Jasper put LSU ahead 17-3 on the final play of the half and hit a 52-yard field goal.
LSU opened the second half strong and Jefferson and LaFell connected again, this time for a 20-yard touchdown on the first drive of the half to put the Tigers ahead 24-7.
ULL had a chance to put the ball into the end zone on their opening drive, but the Tigers had a goal line stand to keep the Cajuns off the board.
LSU put the finishing touches on the Cajuns with 5:48 to play in the game on a 1-yard touchdown pass from sophomore Jarrett Lee to senior halfback Charles Scott.
