NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Nine museums in New Orleans, including the National World War II Museum, will offer free admission on Saturday as part of the Smithsonian magazine’s fifth annual Museum Day celebration.
Last year, upward of 200,000 people attended Museum Day at more than 900 participating museums in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. This year, the magazine expects to attract over 1,000 museums to the program
Visitors must present a Museum Day card to get the free admission. Visit www.smithsonian.com/museumday to download the card, which provides access for two people. One card is allowed per household.
The other museums participating in New Orleans are: American Italian Museum & Research Library, Contemporary Arts Center, House of Broel’s Victorian Mansion and Dollhouse Museum, Longue Vue House and Gardens, Louisiana Children’s Museum, New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, Ogden Museum of Southern Art and the Historic New Orleans Collection.
