The New Orleans Saints received some good news and some bad news prior to their season opener against the Detroit Lions.
The good news is that halfback Reggie Bush proclaimed himself ready to play. Bush missed most of the preseason while recovering from an offseason knee surgery, but told the New Orleans Times-Picayune that he will be at full strength on Sunday.
“I feel like [my timing and rhythm] is good, ” Bush said. “And if it’s not good, it’ll be good by Sunday.”
The bad news is that Bush’s backfield counterpart Pierre Thomas may miss the opener because of a right knee injury and a new injury — a cut to a body part the team would not name, which required stitches over the weekend.
Saints coach Sean Payton told the Times-Picayune that Thomas hurt himself on a fence this past weekend and is questionable for the opener.
