LSU has filled at least one of its coaching vacancies, according to a South Carolina newspaper.An article published Monday in The State, South Carolina’s largest newspaper, reported South Carolina safeties coach Ron Cooper has taken a position as secondary coach with the Tigers.The new contract is reportedly “a three-year deal at LSU believed to be worth $300,000 a year.”LSU Sports Information Director Michael Bonnette declined to comment on the report.If he is hired, Cooper will take charge of an LSU secondary which finished No. 73 in the country allowing 215 yards per game. The Gamecocks’ secondary finished the 2008 season ranked No. 2, allowing just 159.2 yards per game and nine passing touchdowns.
