LSU senior guard Marcus Thornton was named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Thornton scored 30 points in two games this week — 31 in a victory against Mississippi State on Wednesday and 30 in a losing effort against Xavier on Saturday.
He is the first LSU player to score 30 points in back-to-back games since Ronnie Henderson in 1995.
