Five new players have joined the LSU football team, LSU football coach Les Miles said Monday in a news release.
Four of the players are early enrollees from high school. The fifth player, kicker Derek Helton, is a transfer from Fort Scott Community College in Fort Scott, Kan.
The early enrollees are quarterbacks Russell Shepard and Chris Garrett from Houston and Tupelo, Miss., linebacker Kevin Minter from Suwanee, Ga., Miss., and running back Drayton Calhoun from Tucker, Ga.
National Signing Day for football is Feb. 4.
