NEW ORLEANS (AP) — An organization that says it wants to reduce the influence of big money in Congress is targeting Sen. Mary Landrieu for her position on a proposed overhaul of the nation’s health care system. The organization “Change Congress” is attacking Landrieu for her opposition to forming a government health insurance program that would compete with private insurance companies. “Change Congress” suggests that her position is influenced by $1.6 million in campaign contributions from health and insurance interests. Landrieu spokesman Aaron Saunders says Landrieu makes policy decisions based what is best for the state’s people. —-Contact The Daily Reveille’s news staff at [email protected]
