Sixteen people in Louisiana died in auto-related accidents during the Thanksgiving holiday in eight fatal crashes, according to a Louisiana State Police news release, and 13 of the deaths were the result of not wearing seat belts.
Four of the crashes are suspected to be alcohol-related.
LSP reminds motorists that Louisiana State Law requires all vehicle occupants to wear seat belts, regardless of seating position or age. Illegal and prescription drug impairment is grounds for a DWI.
